Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan, October 30th, 2012 - Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd. (TAIEX: 2401, LSE: SUPD) today announced its third quarter financial results in 2012. The net sales from July to September in 2012 totaled NT$830 million, an increase of 18.1% compared to the same period in 2011 and a decrease of 4.3% compared to last month. The gross margin for the third quarter in 2012 was down to 36.67% against 39.08% of last quarter due to lower net sales. The net income after tax from July to September in 2012 totaled NT$2 million.
Non-operating income and expenses from July through September in 2012 included long-term investment gain of NT$58 million, administrative, support and rental revenue of NT$5 million, foreign exchange loss of NT$5 million, etc..
The net sales from January through September in 2012 totaled NT$2,430 million, a decrease of 12.3% compared to the same period in 2011. The gross margin from January through September in 2012 was 36.74%. The net loss after tax from January through September in 2012 totaled NT$143 million, and the net loss per share was NT$0.24 based on the outstanding 596,909,919 shares on September 30th, 2012.
Non-operating income and expenses from January through September in 2012 included long-term investment gain of NT$75 million, administrative, support and rental revenue of NT$18 million, foreign exchange loss of NT$12 million, etc..
