2011
  • The subsidiary, Generalplus Technology Co., Ltd., focused on consumer IC design listing on Taiwan Stock Exchange under the code “4952”.
  • Announced reorganization by altering the IC design Unit and System design Unit to “DVD Product Center”, “STB Product Center”, “TV Product Center” and “IP Product Center”. Appointed Dr. Archie Yeh as President of Home Entertainment Business Unit.
2010
  • Celebrated Sunplus’ 20th Anniversary and Kept Going for “Technology for Easy Living”
2009
  • Started up iCatch Technology Inc. to take over the DSC business from Sunplus mMedia Inc.
  • Reached NT$898 million from its multimedia product monthly revenue, as a record high after re-grouping in 2006.
  • Spun off Sunplus mMedia’s product lines: PC-Cam to Sunplus Innovation Technology Inc.; PMP/MP3/DPF to Generalplus Technology Inc.; DSC to new start-up.
  • Joint-promoted with DTS next generation DVD SoC delivering the ultimate audio entertainment experience
2008
  • Established new subsidiary Sunplus APP Technology in Beijing, to follow up Sunplus University Program in China
  • Launched first DTMB demodulator for China digital broadcasting TV system among Taiwanese IC design companies.
  • The subsidiary, Sunext, licensed optical storage technology to Broadcom Corporation with license income up to US$38 million.
  • Established a new subsidiary, Sunmedia Technology, in Chengdu.
2007
  • Established a new subsidiary, Sunplus Prof-tek Technology, in Shenzhen
  • Received certificate of IECQ 080000 for hazardous substance process management.
  • Received the “Innovation Product Award 2007” from Hsinchu SIPA.
  • The spin-off LCD driver IC design company Orise Technology was IPO under the code "3545".
  • Completed the return of capital with outstanding shares afterward 512,953,665 shares
  • Licensed digital TV SoC IP to Silicon Image, Inc. with US$40 million for license fee.
2006
  • Approved return of capital NT$5.11 billion by shareholders’ extraordinary general meeting.
  • Completed the spin-off of the Personal Entertainment Business Unit and Advanced Business Unit into Sunplus mMobile Inc.
  • Completed the spin-off of Controller & Peripheral Business Unit into Sunplus Innovation Technology Inc.
  • Completed the spin-off of the LCD IC business into Orise Technology Co., Ltd.
2005
  • Announced reorganization by altering the Functional Business Unit System to Product Business Unit System and the resolved to spin off the LCD IC business. Mr. Chou-Chye Huang was appointed to CEO of Sunplus.
  • Announced the worldwide first DVD ICs certificated by DivX Ultra.
  • Mass-produced the PHS mobile baseband processor.
  • Completed the merger with the 3G team of information & communication research lab ITRI and started the development of 3G cellular communication ICs.
  • Applied MPEG-4 image controlling technology to the first IP cam with resolution up to 1M pixel in the worldwide.
  • Launched USB2.0-to-Serial ATA bridge solution.
  • Announced the first 32-bit processor core S+Core® with Sunplus-owned instruction set architecture
2004
  • Received the “R&D Performance Award 2004” and the "Innovation Product Award 2004" from Hsinchu SIPA.
  • Received certificate of ISO 14000 Quality Assessment.
2003
  • The net sales for 2003 reached NT$11.1 billion as landmark.
  • Received the “Innovation Product Award 2003” and the “R&D Performance Award 2003” from Hsinchu SIPA.
  • Announced reorganization by altering the Product Business Unit Systems to Functional Business Unit Systems.
  • Licensed MPEG-4 video compression technology from DivX Networks to create DivX certified IC solution for consumer electronic products.
  • Completed acquisition of Oak Optical Storage Business and spin-off a new venture, Sunext Technology to focus on next generation Blue Ray ODD controller.
  • Licensed 32-bit core IP from MIPS Technology for next-generation consumer electronic products.
2002
  • Sponsored the new Innovation Park and Parking Lot at Science Park, Hsinchu.
  • Purchased a new office building (B-building) at Science Park.
  • Implemented ERP system successfully to enhance company‘s operating efficiency and competence.
  • Established a subsidiary in Shanghai, China to provide better service to customers in Mainland.
2001
  • Completed the Grandtech merger and announced the company’s reorganization.
  • Lunched Global Depositary Receipts on the London Stock Exchange.
2000
  • Received the “Distinguished Achieved Award” from Hsinchu SIPA.
  • Reorganized into three new business unit, Consumer center, Multimedia center, and production center. The BOD appointed Mr. Yarn-Chen Chen as the president.
  • Received certificate of ISO 9001 Quality Assessment by RWTUV.
  • Sunplus was listed on the main board of the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE).
1997
  • Sunplus Technology was IPO on the Over-The-Counter stock market.
1996
  • Grand opening of Sunplus’ office building.
  • Evaluated as “The most productive IC design company” by Hsinchu SIPA.
1995
  • Groundbreaking for the construction of Sunplus’ office building, located in 19, Innovation First Road, Hsinchu Science Park.
1994
  • Company started in-house wafer circuit probe testing.
1993
  • Moved into Hsinchu Science Park.
  • Obtained approval from the SIPA to move into Hsinchu Science Park.
1990
  • Sunplus Technology was founded.
